Prime A Cappella began in the fall of 2020, which means the group was launched at quite possibly the worst time in modern history to start a performance ensemble. Nothing says fun like trying to build blend, balance, and community while everyone stands twelve feet apart, sings through fabric, and hopes the next rehearsal is not cancelled by a sneeze.
What started as a small after school effort has now grown into a fully community-based ensemble rooted in the Greater Dayton area. Prime has recorded more than 30 songs, earned four national compilation features, produced multiple videos, and previously came close to reaching ICHSA Finals.
This year, Prime enters the Harmony Sweepstakes with a refreshed roster and an eclectic mix of backgrounds that includes social workers, school teachers, a doctorate student, two high school students, a youth ministry leader, and a medical technician. The group is guided by a director who takes no pay and believes deeply in paying it forward in the local community.
Proud of their Dayton roots and eager for a new chapter, Prime is excited to bring heart, grit, and a whole lot of personality to the Harmony Sweepstakes stage. It is Prime Time.
