Over the years, she's dabbled in jazz, hung out in the woodwinds section and various choirs, and occasionally pretends to be a one-woman band. Her first adventure in a cappella was in college with the Dartmouth Rockapellas, where she also picked up beatboxing. A double major in Environmental Studies and Native American Studies, she capped off her college career with a 2nd place finish in Dartmouth Idol.
Following college, Emily moved to Los Angeles to teach 8th grade science with Teach For America, and wound up jamming with the jazz a cappella group Red Harmony for a few years. Sick of using mop buckets as lab sinks, Emily founded a charter school fundraising venture that harnessed arts education as a means to connect schools with their communities. Wanting to learn to do that better, she took the venture to Virginia where she got her MBA in entrepreneurship and corporate innovation. Emily is now a management consultant in San Diego and is thrilled to be a part of Voxy!
