Galoran Amos is a jazz vocalist and student of psychology and music at Santa Monica College. She has studied classical voice and has sung in a variety of choirs starting in childhood and continuing through high school. More recently, stemming from her love of jazz music, she began singing with the Santa Monica College Vocal Jazz Ensemble. This group is a renowned and much-admired setting for learning and performing in the crazy world of tricky rhythms, challenging and beautiful multi-voice tight harmonies that characterize this unique musical idiom. It was here that she discovered Swing Shift – and Swing Shift discovered Galoran – and began singing with them as their lead Soprano. Her rich sonorous voice, solo skills, and scat vocalizing are among her many talents that are much-appreciated by her fellow singers and audiences alike.
