The Hexachords

The Hexachords are a group that is all about doing what we love! We love to sing and share our music with others. We are as much as a family as an a cappella group could be. Five of the six members were in the UMass Marching Band and we brought the love and support that the band shows each other to way we treat our group. We get together and sing our hearts out and we have proven that if you really commit and work hard you can make a name for yourself. We placed 2nd in the Northeast Finals for the 2013 and 2014 ICCA competitions and are ready to go all the way next time. We are just a bunch of fun loving, goofing off, singing best friends.

Mike Why

A genre-bending one man vocal band, Mike Why is a mouthdrummer, vocalist, and live looper who engages audiences of all ages, and from coast to coast. His brand of "A Cappella for One" has landed at Contemporary A Cappella Society festivals such as SoJam (Raleigh, NC) and the Texas A Cappella Celebration, International Live Looping Festivals in Austin, Los Angeles, and the San Francisco Bay; San Antonio's Luminaria Festival, and the Hard Rock Las Vegas. He currently tours in support of his freshman record Run My Mouth, which released to positive reviews: Loudr Music called him "a mouth of many Instruments" and delivered comparisons to modern vocal innovators Pentatonix and Peter Hollens; the Recorded A Cappella Review board remarked "as a cappella debuts go, Run My Mouth is about as good as it gets." Also an ambassador for arts outreach, Mike's upcoming April 2015 two-day, 800-song One Mouth Music Show seeks to build free contemporary arts education opportunities at chronically underfunded programs through an ongoing Patreon campaign, and will also make him the first American to hold the World Record of Beatboxing.

Vocal Revolution

We are one of New England's premier a cappella performing groups and have won multiple adjudicated contests. Since chartering in 1970 as Sounds of Concord, our chorus has constantly remained dedicated to its mission of Moving Audiences and Enriching Lives Through Musical Excellence. Our members come from all over the Greater Boston area and beyond. Many of our members are very dedicated; some drive a long distance on Thursday nights to sing with us. Our informal slogan is "Is it Thursday yet?". Our rehearsals typically involve a fair amount of work, but the results are sometimes magnificent. Members are expected to do their homework and to show up prepared to sing and perform without holding sheet music or iPads. We do not hold music in performance so the ability to memorize is important. So is the ability to perform....we are singer/actors, not just singers.
