The Harmony Sweepstakes A Cappella Festival is the premier American showcase for vocal harmony music. The annual national competition draws from hundreds of vocal groups from around the country with regional competitions in eight cities. The winning group from each festival is flown to perform in front of celebrity judges and a sold out house of enthusiastic a cappella fans at the National Finals.

Something Old. Something New. Something Else. Great talents from the area's award-winning groups come together to pay homage to Denver's great a cappella history. Listen for funk and R&B influences from the old-school where Confidential brings original pieces, cutting-edge sounds, and modern style for a sweet sound that aims for the future of a cappella.

Mouth Beats

No words, just rhythms, sound effects, and vocal percussion. MouthBeats explores the sonic barriers between vocal and instrumental music. Fusing pop, rock, jazz, world, and military styles, MouthBeats is on a never ending hunt for new beats, new sounds, new grooves.

Legacy

Legacy is a nationally known contemporary Christian vocal group that is based out of Lubbock, Texas. Their sound has been compared to many world renowned groups such as Take 6, Acappella, Gaither Vocal Band and Rockapella.

2007

Face

Face is an all-vocal rock band that brings a new edge and attitude to the human voice. These seven young men from Boulder, Colorado provide raw entertainment from original arrangements of rock, pop, funk and upbeat jazz. Using the full range of sounds that the voice can produce, including vocal percussion or "beat-box," Face sounds more like an instrumental rock band than a choral group. Done completely live, with no backing tracks, special effects, or other instruments, first-time audiences are frequently left with a feeling of "How do they do that???" Called "a 7-voice bomb blast," Face won second place at the 2005 National Harmony Sweepstakes, as well as National Audience Favorite.

Curious Gage

Working out of Fort Collins, Curious Gage has been a fixture in the contemporary a cappella scene for over three years. With performances throughout Colorado, including the Denver Coliseum, this award-winning a cappella ensemble flawlessly captures the energy and intensity of today‚s hottest Rock bands. Their unique blend of pop, jazz, Rock and soul unites in strikingly vibrant harmony, complemented by their extensive professional backgrounds. With commanding solos, powerful bass and driving vocal percussion, Curious Gage is one group you don‚t want to miss!

face

face is an all-vocal rock band that prides itself in bringing a new edge and attitude to one of the purest forms of musical production. These six guys from Boulder provide raw entertainment from original arrangements of pop, rock, jazz, and classical fusion. Recently dubbed a "6-voice bomb blast," face. appeared at the past two Rocky Mountain Harmony Sweeps, winning Audience Favorite both years, and Runner-Up in 2003.

Inpulse

Inpulse is the Twin Cities' hottest new vocal band. A certifiably unique pop a cappella outfit, INPULSE incorporates award-winning soloists with driving percussion, using only their mouths and microphones to create a groove that is second to none. This five-member group is comprised of classically trained vocalists and utilizes the art of vocal percussion to entertain all audiences with their energetic stage performance. INPULSE endeavors to advance the art of a cappella into mainstream pop-culture on the world stage through original music, engaging performances and the education of young singers.

Groove Society

Groove Society is an exciting new group of dedicated a cappella artists that has set out to explode the myth that singers are not true musicians. With degrees ranging from vocal performance to music education to theory and composition, individual members have received numerous accolades, including several prestigious Downbeat Magazine awards. Although the group's roots are firmly planted in the jazz genre, they are not afraid to demonstrate their versatility by performing in a variety of styles. 2002

Eclipse

Eclipse is a six-man Vocal Band from northern Utah. The band has been in existence for nearly two years. In those two years Eclipse has performed for audiences both nationally and internationally. They were seen in the 2002 Olympic Opening and Closing Ceremonies along with Sting, Leann Rhymes, and the Dixie Chicks. Eclipse has also been the opening act for artists such as Train, Brooks & Dunn, and Nelly Furtado. Their repertoire consists of original tunes and arrangements with styles ranging from Jazz and Swing, to Pop and R&B. Eclipses' debut album was released in April of 2001. Their second and third albums will be released in the summer and Christmas of 2002

T Minus 5

T Minus 5 is the result of two different a cappella groups that hit the stage during the 90’s. After these two groups went their separate ways, a couple of the members from each group wanted to continue to perform. They collaborated with each other and agreed they would combine efforts in establishing a new and improved "vocal band". You couldn’t ask for five better individuals in a group. Each individual brings a specialty that is complemented by another member’s talent, creating a show that is both dynamic and charismatic. 2000

All-Star Vocal Band

In 1995 the All-Star Vocal Band began rebuilding their vocal ensemble around the talents of the two exceptional voices of Jackie Farrell and Rita Dean. With the addition of seasoned a cappellans, tenor, Jimi Alexander and, baritone, Tony Huerta and the continuing participation of, bass, Norm Silver, the All-Star Vocal Band has moved forward to bring a new style and a fresh perspective to the group's sound. Powerhouse percussionist, Zach Freeman, adds the drive and the beat to make the new All-Stars really rock.

1999

Octane

Octane first formed in 1994 as an octet with piano accompaniment while students in the School of Music at Northern Illinois University. They released their first CD, "High Performance" in this format and became strictly a cappella in 1996. Their local performance experience includes 2 summer retreats for the American Choral Directors Association, 4 performances of the National Anthem and half time shows for the Chicago Bears, second place in the 1997 Midwest Regional Harmony Sweepstakes, summer festivals throughout the midwest, guest entertainers for the Miss Iowa pageant, and many concerts and workshops at schools throughout the area. They performed as representatives of Softline, Inc. at the Sapphire '98 trade show in Los Angeles and were the resident a cappella ensemble from January to July 1998 aboard Celebrity Cruise Lines in the Caribbean and Alaska. Their second CD, "Grand Slam" was recorded while on board. They can also be heard on a Baker and Taylor Entertainment Services christmas compilation CD along with artists Kenny Rodgers, Michael Bolton, James Galway, and Vanessa Williams. They will return to Celebrity Cruises in May of 1999.

Cool Shooz

Cool Shooz is a Rock n' Roll A Cappella! This group has been wowing Colorado audiences musically one moment, then making them laugh out loud the next, since 1990. They appeared here previously in 1996, and have since entertained thousands of people all over Colorado. Their unique sound is a blend of many years of individual experience shining opera, vocal jazz., musical theater, and rhythm and blues. You will notice two new faces and voices: Jeff King, the velvet-toed tenor, has performed here previously with The Diners. Also new is vocal percussionist Tom Connor - a fine tenor singer in his own right - adding his tasty percussion to finish the COOL SHOOZ sound. Hear their now-famous Bohemian Rhapsody tonight at the Afterglow, but for now, just sit back and enjoy...THE SHOOZ BROTHERS!?!


1997

Graffiti Tribe

Since their beginnings in high school, The Graffiti Tribe have wanted to do one thing; perform the music that they love. Little did they realize where the road would take them and how many fans would come along. The past five years have been a wonderful ride for Tribe members Tim, Dan, Marc and Richard. Their hard work and enthusiasm has made them one of the most popular college acts touring today. With their legion of fans growing with every performance, and perform they do! Whether it's in front of thousands at Coors or Invesco Field singing the National Anthem for the Colorado Rockies and the World Champion Denver Broncos. Appearing on the nationally televised Jerry Lewis Telethon or competing in the prestigious Harmony Sweepstakes Acappella Festival, a national competition for acappella groups around the country. These gentlemen know how to please their fans and with Tim, Dan and Marcs soulful pop leads and Richard's smooth bass to guide you. Soon you to, will be a follower of the Tribe.

The The 17th Avenue Allstars have been recognized as one of the bright stars of contemporary a cappella, since their beginnings in Denver, Colorado over a decade ago. Whether they are performing their award winning Pop Music Show at a family concert, large scale music festival or corporate party, one thing is for sure, the Allstars will go the distance to create a completely entertaining and astounding musical experience for their audience!

The 17th Avenue Allstars are three time Western Regional A Cappella Winners and achieved top honors in 1993 as National A Cappella Champions at the Harmony Sweepstakes, the "super bowl" of a cappella competition. The group's soulful renditions of popular music cover a wide variety of musical styles and span five decades of hits.
